This Week In Washington


Senate – The Senate was in recess.

 

House – The House was in recess.

 

Biden Administration – In preparation for Hurricane Milton, President Biden approved pre-landfall emergency declarations for Florida and the Seminole Tribe, allowing the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide immediate support for evacuation, sheltering, and search-and-rescue operations. FEMA has pre-positioned Incident Management Teams, swift water rescue units, medical assistance teams, and millions of meals and liters of water for affected communities. The U.S. Department of Defense has also staged helicopters and high-water vehicles to support rescues. Additionally, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) declared a Public Health Emergency and deployed medical personnel and resources to ensure healthcare facilities, such as hospitals and nursing homes, can continue operating safely during and after the storm.
