This week in Washington 

Senate: The Senate continued processing nominations, including confirmation of Jay Clayton to be Director of National Intelligence, and began consideration of the next en bloc package of nominees. They began consideration of a bill to impose additional Russian sanctions, a bill originally introduced by (deceased) Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC).

House: The House was in recess.

Trump Administration: On July 31, President Trump signed a Presidential Memoranda entitled Presidential Determination Pursuant to Section 101 of the Defense Production Act of 1950, as Amended, on Recoverable Critical Minerals and Materials. The Memoranda authorizes authority under the Defense Production Act to implement export restrictions on recoverable critical minerals and materials.

Next week in Washington 

Senate: The Senate will reconvene Monday, August 3, and is expected to continue processing the en bloc package of nominees and the Russian sanctions bill. They are also expected to consider a Continuing Resolution to fund the government through December 4 and the AGOA Extension Act (H.R.6500).

House: The House is in recess and will reconvene Monday, August 31.
