This week in Washington
Senate: The Senate continued processing nominations including confirmation of an en bloc package of 74 sub-cabinet level Administration nominees, and passed a bill to impose additional Russian sanctions, a bill originally introduced by (deceased) Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC). They are on track to pass a Continuing Resolution to fund the government through December 11 as the motion to invoke cloture on the bill passed 91-6. The Senate also appears on track to approve the nomination of Todd Blanche as Attorney General, following the announcement this morning of Senator Cassidy (R-LA) that he would support the nomination. Notably the Senate did not take action on the CLARITY Act.
House: The House was in recess.
Trump Administration: On August 6, President Trump signed an Executive Order entitled Ending Birth Tourism. The Order directs the Secretary of State and Secretary Homeland Security to halt the practice of birth tourism.

Senate: The Senate is in recess and will reconvene Monday, September 14.
House: The House is in recess and will reconvene Monday, August 31.
