Senate: The Senate continued processing nominations including Under Secretary of Energy, Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, Director of the Office of Personnel Management, Deputy Administrator of the Small Business Administration, and Comptroller of the Currency.

 

House: The House was in recess.

 

Trump Administration: On July 7, President Trump signed an Executive Order entitled, ‘Extending the Modification of the Reciprocal Tariff Rates.” The Order delays the effective date of tariffs from July 9 to August 1. In addition to the Order, President Trump issued letters to 23 countries with revised tariff rates that will take effect on August 1.

 

Next week in Washington 

 

Senate: The Senate will reconvene on Monday, July 14 and is expected to continue processing nominations including, U.S. Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit, Assistant Secretary of Treasury, Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, and Director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. They also could consider the recissions package.

 

House: The House will reconvene on Monday, July 14 and is expected to consider the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act (H.R.1919), the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (H.R.3633), the GENIUS Act (S.1582), and the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2026 (H.R.4016).
