This week in Washington
Senate: The Senate continued processing nominations and passed the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act (H.R.6644).
House: The House passed the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act. They failed to consider bills pursuant to a rule after Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) said she, and what she suggested were many more Republican colleagues, would not vote for any rule (allowing House bills to move to the floor) unless the Save America Act (H.R.7296) was attached to the must-pass NDAA bill.
Trump Administration: On June 22, President Trump signed an Executive Order entitled Ushering in the Next Frontier of Quantum Innovation. The Order aims to “supercharge” U.S. innovation in quantum and strengthen national security. President Trump declined to sign the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act into law unless the Save America Act was attached. After meeting with House Speaker Johnson late in the week, President Trump called for House Republicans to stop "grandstanding" and allow House legislation to move forward.
