Senate: The Senate processed nominations and continued consideration of the fiscal year (FY) 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) (S.2296).

 

House: The House passed the FY26 NDAA (H.R.3838) and the Stop Illegal Entry Act of 2025 (H.R.3486)

 

Trump Administration: On September 9, President Trump signed a Presidential Memoranda directed to the Secretary of Health and Human Services the Commissioner of Food and Drugs. The Memoranda directs for there to be greater transparency and accuracy in prescription drug advertisements.

 

Next week in Washington 

 

Senate: The Senate will reconvene on Monday, September 15 and is expected to continue processing nominations including S.Res.377 authorizing the en bloc consideration in Executive Session of certain nominations on the Executive Calendar, post-cloture and Steven Miran to be a Member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. They will also continue consideration of the NDAA.

 

House: The House will reconvene on Monday, September 15 and is expected to consider the Guaranteeing Reliability through the Interconnection of Dispatchable Power Act (H.R.1047), the Promoting Cross-border Energy Infrastructure Act (H.R.3062), the National Coal Council Reestablishment Act (H.R.3015), the DC CRIMES Act (H.R.4922), the District of Columbia Policing Protection Act (H.R.5143), a bill to lower the age a minor can be tried as an adult in DC to 14 (H.R.5140), and the District of Columbia Judicial Nominations Reform Act (H.R.5125). They may also consider legislation to fund government agency operations beyond September 30.
