Senate: The Senate was in recess.

 

House: The House passed the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act (H.R.6945), the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act (H.R.6359), and Congressional Review Act H.J.Res.140 to rescind a Bureau of Land Management Rule withdrawing federal lands in Minnesota from mineral leasing. They also passed the remaining government funding bills including Defense, Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development, and Homeland Security.


Trump Administration:  On January 20, President Trump signed an Executive Order entitled, Stopping Wall Street from Competing with Main Street Homebuyers. The Order directs key agencies to take steps to ensure large, institutional, investors cannot buy single-family homes to make homeownership more affordable for families.

Next week in Washington 

 

Senate: The Senate will reconvene Monday, January 26.  They are expected to consider the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act (S.3627) and begin consideration of the remaining government funding bills.

 

House: The House is in recess and will reconvene Monday, February 2.
