Senate: The Senate continued processing nominations. They passed a motion to discharge the War Powers Resolution on Venezuela.

 

House:  The House passed the government funding package for the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies,  Energy and Water Development, and Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies (H.R.6938). They passed a bill to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits for three years, the SHOWER Act (H.R.4593) and the Affordable HOMES Act (H.R.5184).

 

Trump Administration:  On January 7, President Trump signed an Executive Order entitled “Prioritizing the Warfighter in Defense Contacting.” The Order directs defense contractors from putting stock buybacks and excessive corporate distributions before capacity and innovation.


Next week in Washington 

 

Senate: The Senate will reconvene Monday, January 12 and is expected to consider the government funding package for Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies,  Energy and Water Development, and Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies.  


 

House: The House will reconvene Monday, January 12 and is expected to consider the Flexibility for Workers Education Act (H.R.2262), the Empowering Employer Child and Elder Care Solutions Act (H.R.2270), the Tipped Employee Protection Act (H.R.2312), the Protecting Prudent Investment of Retirement Savings Act (H.R.2988), and the Save Local Business Act (H.R.4366).
