Senate: The Senate continued processing nominations including Markwayne Mullin as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). They passed a government funding bill for DHS, excluding funding for ICE and Customs and Border Control.
House: The House passed the Pay Our Homeland Defenders Act (H.R.8029), a Resolution expressing support for DHS (H.Res.1128), The Defending American Property Abroad Act (H.R.7084), and the Make the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful Act (H.R.5103).
Trump Administration: On March 26, President Trump signed an Executive Order entitled “Addressing DEI Discrimination by Federal Contractors.” The Order ends DEI in federal contractors and their subcontractors to ensure merit-based and efficient contracting and employment.
Next week in Washington
Senate: The Senate is in recess and will reconvene Monday, April 13.
House: The House is scheduled to be in recess and will reconvene, Tuesday, April 14. They could stay in session through the weekend and into early next week to consider the DHS funding bill from the Senate.
