Washington, D.C. — April 14, 2026 — Williams & Jensen, one of Washington’s premiere bipartisan law and lobbying firms, announced today that Jay Fields, former Deputy Assistant to President Trump and Deputy Director of the White House Office of Legislative Affairs, will join the firm starting next week.
“We are thrilled to have Jay join the firm. He served the President in the West Wing, working closely with his most senior staff all across the White House to implement the President’s policy agenda. Jay’s understanding of the key players and how they operate will be a huge asset to our firm,” said Susan Hirschmann, CEO of Williams & Jensen
“I am thrilled to take all that I’ve learned in the White House to help strategically navigate the policy priorities of the firm. I want to thank Williams & Jensen for this exciting opportunity,” said Mr. Fields.
Mr. Fields has also drawn exceptional accolades from his former colleagues at the White House:
Susie Wiles, White House Chief of Staff: “Jay Fields came to this White House to work tirelessly toward executing President Trump’s agenda, and that’s exactly what he did. Jay has played a key role in nearly every legislative success of President Trump’s second term, including the historic One Big Beautiful Bill Act. While much of his work occurred behind the scenes, it was no less critical to achieving results for the President and the American people. While we are sad to see him leave the White House, he departs with the deep trust and respect of his colleagues. We thank him for his service and hope we can convince him to join us again one day in the future. He will be missed!”
James Blair, White House Deputy Chief of Staff: “Jay Fields has been an indispensable player in President Trump's White House, using his deep policy expertise and extensive network in the West Wing, the broader Executive Branch, and Capitol Hill, to develop, coordinate, and implement the President's agenda -- including playing a critical role in helping the Administration craft and pass the One Big Beautiful Bill, which stands out as one of the most consequential pieces of Republican legislation in American History. Jay's wise counsel and locker room leadership will be missed. His new colleagues and clients are lucky to have him.”
Kevin Hassett, Director of the National Economic Council of the United States: “It has been a genuine privilege to work alongside Jay Fields in President Trump’s White House. His deep understanding of White House operations, economic policy, and Congressional dynamics has made him a crucial voice in some of the White House’s most consequential decisions and a boon to the mission of the National Economic Council. The relationships he fostered, the long hours he worked, and the results he delivered will leave a lasting mark on this Administration. He leaves with our deep appreciation.”
James Braid, White House Director of Legislative Affairs: “Jay’s extraordinary leadership, vision, and wisdom helped guide the Office of Legislative Affairs during some of the most complex and novel legislative configurations in decades, including the no-fail mission to pass the largest and most expansive piece of Republican legislation ever. He has been a critical strategist to the President’s legislative agenda, and is universally respected within the West Wing, larger executive branch apparatus, and on the Hill, with unmatched relationships forged under high-urgency and high-pressure conditions. He’ll be sorely missed, and I know his next chapter will be just as successful as his time in the White House.”
Mr. Fields brings more than a decade of experience in legislative and policy roles to Williams & Jensen. Most recently, Fields served in the White House from January 2025 through April 2026, where he acted as Deputy Assistant to the President and Internal Lead for the Office of Legislative Affairs (OLA). In that role, he worked closely with senior White House officials, federal agencies, and congressional leadership to coordinate legislative strategy and advance key policy priorities. During his tenure, Fields played a significant role in shaping and advancing major legislative initiatives, including the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a signature policy effort of the Administration. Prior to his White House service, Fields held senior policy and leadership roles in the U.S. House of Representatives, including positions with the Office of the Speaker, the House Republican Study Committee, and multiple Members of Congress.
