Melinda M. Maxfield

Melinda Maxfield is a Principal at Williams & Jensen and has represented a wide range of Fortune 500 companies before Congress and the Executive Branch, drawing on her extensive experience in commerce related issues, including federal approval of mergers and acquisitions. Melinda also leads the firm’s telecommunications practice, where she is known for her policy expertise, strategic judgment, and extensive relationships across Capitol Hill.

Melinda works closely with both House and Senate leadership and maintains strong ties across the committees most critical to her clients’ priorities. Her reach extends across influential caucuses, coalitions, and key regional delegations, making her a trusted advisor to clients seeking to understand the dynamics shaping federal decision-making.

Her political and policy instincts are grounded in years of experience in the political arena. Before joining Williams & Jensen in 2007, Melinda served as Deputy Finance Director at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) under Chairman Chuck Schumer, acting as the DSCC’s liaison to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and the Democratic leadership team. Earlier in her career, Melinda managed PAC and grassroots programs at General Electric, and served as Vice President at Campaign Finance Consultants, where she worked with a wide range of Democratic Senators and House Members.

Melinda remains deeply engaged in the political ecosystem, participating in a variety of political programs and driving the firm’s engagement with senior House and Senate leaders to reinforce its strategic presence at national forums on behalf of clients. She brings a disciplined command of policy, seasoned political judgment, and a network of enduring relationships cultivated over years in Washington. This perspective enables her to deliver decisive advocacy for clients working at the nexus of telecommunications, commerce, and federal policymaking.
