Mahlet H. Makonnen

Mahlet Makonnen is an attorney with public and private sector experience in financial services, privacy, and cybersecurity issues. As a Principal at Williams & Jensen, Mahlet assists a diverse group of clients ranging from financial services to technology firms. In addition, Mahlet manages the Campaign Finance Practice at Williams & Jensen and advises corporations, trade associations, and individuals on complying with federal and state election laws, ethics and gift restrictions, and the Lobbying Disclosure Act.

Prior to joining Williams & Jensen, Mahlet worked as Regulatory Affairs Counsel for the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU) where she advised financial institutions on a variety of regulatory and compliance issues. In the public sector, Mahlet served as an Attorney Advisor with the Department of Veterans Affairs.  She is a member of the District of Columbia and Virginia state bar.
