Senate: The Senate continued processing nominations including Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services for Legislative Affairs, a Member of the Federal Communications Commission, and Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. They passed the GENIUS Act (S.1582).

 

House: The House was in recess.  

 

Trump Administration: On June 19, President Trump signed an Executive Order entitled “Further Extending the TikTok Enforcement Delay.” The Order extends the date by which TikTok’s Chinese run parent company ByteDance must divest from the app to September 17, 2025.

 

Next Week In Washington

 

Senate:  The Senate will reconvene on Monday, June 23 and is expected to continue processing nominations including Assistant Secretary of Defense, Deputy Secretary of Commerce, and Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Tax. They are also expected to consider the reconciliation bill.   

 

House: The House will reconvene Monday, June 23 and are expected to consider the Special Interest Alien Reporting Act (H.R.275), the Jeremy and Angel Seay and Sergeant Brandon Mendoza Protect Our Coummunities from DUIs Act (H.R.875), the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2026 (H.R.3944), and the Condemning the violent June 2025 riots in Los Angeles, California (H.Res.516).
