Senate: The Senate continued processing nominations including Assistant Attorney General, Deputy Secretary of the Environmental Protection Agency, Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, and IRS Commissioner. They continued consideration of the GENIUS Act (S.1582) and adopted amendment #2307

 

House: The House passed a bill to prohibit noncitizens from voting in Washington D.C. (H.R.884), the District of Columbia Federal Immigration Compliance Act (H.R.2056), the Protecting Our Nation's Capital Emergency Act (H.R.2096), and the Halt All Lethal Trafficking of Fentanyl Act (S.331). They also passed the recission package (H.R.4). 

 

Trump Administration: On June 12, President Trump signed an Executive Order entitled, “Empowering Commonsense Wildfire Prevention and Response.” The Order directs the Secretaries of Interior and Agriculture to consolidate their wildland fire programs, improve federal partnerships, and support state and local response efforts.  

 

Next Week In Washington

 

Senate:  The Senate will reconvene on Monday, June 16 and is expected to continue processing nominations including Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services for Legislative Affairs and a Member of the Federal Communications Commission. They are also expected to vote on final passage of the GENIUS Act (S.1582). 

 

House: The House is in recess and will reconvene Monday, June 23.
