Senate: The Senate continued processing nominations including Chief of Protocol at the Department of State, Legal Adviser of the Department of State, Secretary of the Air Force, Deputy Secretary of Interior, Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, Deputy Director for Management at the Office of Management and Budget, and Assistant Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.

 

House: The House passed the Improving Law Enforcement Officer Safety and Wellness Through Data Act (H.R.2240), the LEOSA Reform Act (H.R.2243), and the Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act of 2025 (H.R.2255)


Trump Administration: On May 12, President Trump signed an Executive Order entitled, “Delivering Most-Favored-Nation Prescription Drug Pricing to American Patients.” The Order aims to ensure American taxpayers pay prices for prescription drugs that are in line with those paid by similar nations.


Next Week in Washington


Senate: The Senate will reconvene on Monday, May 19 and continue processing nominations including Ambassador to France and Monaco. They could consider S.1582, the GENIUS Act.

 

House: The House will reconvene on Monday, May 19 and could consider the FY26 budget reconciliation bill should the bill be favorably reported out of the House Budget Committee.
