Senate: The Senate passed the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). They continued processing nominations including confirmation of an en bloc package of nominees.
House: The House passed the SPEED Act (H.R.4776), the Mining Regulatory Clarity Act (H.R.1366), the Reliable Power Act (H.R.3616), the Power Plant Reliability Act (H.R.3632), the Kayla Hamilton Act (H.R.4371), and the Pet and Livestock Protection Act (H.R.845). They also passed the Do No Harm in Medicaid Act (H.R.498), the Protect Children’s Innocence Act (H.R.3492) and the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act (H.R.6703). The Democrat discharge petition to extend ACA subsidies for 3 years reached the 218 signatures to force a vote at a later date.
Trump Administration: On December 18, President Trump signed an Executive Order entitled Increasing Medical Marijuana and Cannabidiol Research. The Order directs for more research to better inform patients and doctors while also expediting the completion of rescheduling marijuana to a Schedule III drug. He signed the FY26 NDAA into law.
