This week in Washington 11.21.25

Senate: The Senate continued processing nominations including Ho Nieh to be a member of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. They passed Congressional Review Act (CRA) H.J.Res.130 to rescind the Bureau of Land Management Rule to not accept new coal lease applications at the Buffalo Field Office. Additionally, by unanimous consent, the Senate passed H.R.4405, the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

 

House: The House passed the Unlocking our Domestic LNG Potential Act of 2025 (H.R.1949), the REFINER Act (H.R.3109),  Denouncing the horrors of socialism (H.Con.Res.58),  the District of Columbia Cash Bail Reform Act of 2025 (H.R.5214), and the Common-Sense Law Enforcement and Accountability Now in DC Act of 2025 (H.R.5107). They passed CRAs S.J.Res.80, H.J.Res.130, and H.J.Res.131 to rescind Bureau of Land Management rules to manage oil and gas development in Alaska and the Coastal Plain and not accept new coal lease applications at the Buffalo Field Office. The House passed H.R.4405, the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

 

Trump Administration:  On November 20, President Trump signed an Executive Order entitled Modifying the Scope of Tariffs on the Government of Brazil. The Order removes certain agricultural products from the imposed 40 percent additional ad valorem duty beginning November 13, 2025. President Trump signed H.R.4405, the Epstein Files Transparency Act, directing the Department of Justice to release the Epstein files.
