This week in Washington 

 

Senate: The Senate continued processing nominations. They failed to reach the 60-vote threshold to proceed to the FY27 National Defense Authorization Act as Democrats blocked the bill over the war in Iran. 

 

House: The House passed the FY27 Nation Security, Department of State, and Related Programs government funding bill (H.R.8595), the Sunshine Protection Act (H.R.139), and the Protecting Privacy in Purchases Act (H.R.1181).

 

Trump Administration: On July 13, President Trump signed a Proclamation entitled, Regulatory Relief for Certain Stationary Sources to Promote American Chemical Manufacturing Security. The Proclamation grants certain chemical manufactures a two-year exemption from Biden-era EPA emissions regulations, allowing facilities critical to semiconductor production, medical device sterilization, advanced manufacturing, and national defense to continue operating under previous standards.

 

Next week in Washington 

 

Senate: The Senate will reconvene Monday, July 20, and is expected to continue processing nominations.

 

House: The House will reconvene Monday, July 20, and is expected to consider the Stop Insider Trading Act (H.R.7008), the Main Street Capital Access Act (H.R.6955), the FY27 NDAA (H.R.8800), the Removing Barriers to Work for Disabled Americans Act (H.R.8884) and a Continuing Resolution to fund the government through December 4. They could also consider the FY27 Budget Resolution.
