This week in Washington 

 

Senate: The Senate continued processing nominations and passed a 45-day FISA extension by voice vote.

 

House: The House passed the Farm, Food, and National Security Act (Farm Bill) (H.R.7567), the FY26 Budget Resolution (S.Con.Res.33), and the 45-day FISA extension following passage of a 3-year reauthorization. They passed funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), excluding ICE and Customs and Border Patrol  (CBP), sending the bill to the President for signature.

 

Trump Administration:  On April 30, President Trump signed an Executive Order entitled Promoting Retirement-Savings Access for American Workers by Establishing TrumpIRA.gov. The Order creates a marketplace for private sector Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), and is paired with access to the current law "SAVERs Match" of $1,000 in federal matching contributions. President Trump also signed the DHS funding bill, excluding ICE and CBP from the law, ending the 74-day shutdown.

 

Next week in Washington 

 

Senate: The Senate is in recess and will reconvene Monday, May 11. They are expected to continue processing nominations, including confirmation of 49 Executive Branch and judicial nominees, en bloc through S.Res.690, and begin the next steps in the reconciliation process.

 

House: The House is in recess and will reconvene on Tuesday, May 12.
