Anthony J. Roda
PRINCIPAL
Tony Roda began his career as a Research Assistant in the British House of Commons in London, England. Returning to the U.S., he started as an intern in the U.S. House of Representatives where he rose to the position of Director of Legislative Strategy in a House leadership office.
Today, as a principal at Williams & Jensen in Washington, D.C., Tony spends the majority of his time representing public pension plans on federal tax compliance, proposed legislation, Treasury and IRS regulation, and fiduciary law. He has managed projects that have resulted in changes to federal tax law, regulatory relief, and fiduciary training for plan trustees.
Tony is a former president of the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys (NAPPA) and currently a member of NAPPA’s executive board. He also serves as the chair of the steering committee and co-chair of the regulatory policy committee of the International Pension and Employee Benefits Lawyers Association. Tony is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences, and the author of numerous articles on matters related to retirement systems and related law.
Tony earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, a Juris Doctor degree from the Catholic University Law School, and a Masters in Tax Law from the Georgetown University Law Center. He is a member of the District of Columbia, Virginia, and U.S. Supreme Court bars.
