Karina V. Lynch

Karina Lynch joined Williams & Jensen in 2000 as an Associate, and became a Principal in 2005. Ms. Lynch concentrates on legislative, regulatory, and oversight issues affecting various sectors of the health care industry and clients with an interest in education and tax policy.

Professional background: Prior to arriving at the firm, Ms. Lynch spent five years on the Hill, where she served as Counsel to the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, Committee on Government Affairs, under the chairmanship of Senator Susan M. Collins (R-ME). During her tenure on the Subcommittee, she worked extensively on hearings related to overpayment settlement negotiations involving the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), as well as the effects of Medicare payment systems on the health care industry. Additionally, she was lead counsel on hearings involving the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Prior to holding that position, Ms. Lynch served as investigative counsel to Senator Charles E. Grassley (R-IA) and worked on issues related to fraud and abuse in the Medicare and Medicaid systems. She worked closely with the General Accountability Office to monitor systems compliance at the Social Security Administration and CMS. Furthermore, she worked on investigations involving CMS in order to improve nursing home quality care. She also worked with the Federal Trade Commission to monitor anti-competitive practices in the pharmaceutical market.

In addition to serving Williams & Jensen clients, Ms. Lynch is a member of the American Bar Association's Health Law and Government Divisions.
