Telecommunications

Williams & Jensen is at the forefront of rapidly evolving telecommunications policies. We represent clients in the cable television, mass media, long distance, information services and computer industries before Congress, the White House, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the Departments of Commerce and Justice, as well as other agencies.

A cutting edge field, facing cutting edge challenges

The firm represented clients as the Telecommunications Act of 1996 was enacted, and has been intensely involved in its implementation. Our lawyers have worked with the FCC on behalf of long-distance clients and high-tech firms to develop regulations on Universal Service provisions, access charges, operation-support systems requirements, and other competitive interests.

We have represented the cable and satellite programming industry since the early 1980s, and continue to advise clients and work with Congress and the FCC on matters ranging from rate regulation and program access to TV ratings, closed captioning, broadcast ownership, and children's viewing issues.

Our services include:
  • Drafting proposed legislation and supporting materials
  • Preparing clients to testify before Congressional Committees
  • Representing clients before the FCC and other agencies
  • Acting as liaison to members of Congress
  • Monitoring current and emerging issues
  • Providing comprehensive legislative and regulatory strategy counseling.
