This week's Washington Update covers: health care; taxes; financial services; energy and environment; defense and transportation.

This Week in Congress

  • House – The House approved the "Transportation Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act" (H.R. 5972) and a resolution to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for refusal to comply with a subpoena issued by the Oversight and Government Reform Committee (H. Res. 708). The House also passed a conference agreement containing the Surface Transportation Reauthorization, Flood Insurance Reform, and the Student Loan Interest Rate Extension (H.R. 4348).

 

  • Senate – The Senate approved the "Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act" (S. 3187) and a conference agreement containing the Surface Transportation Reauthorization, Flood Insurance Reform, and the Student Loan Interest Rate Extension. This package will now go to the President for his signature.

  • House – The House will be in recess until July 9, 2012.
