This week's Washington Update covers: taxes; financial services; energy and environment; defense; transportation; and technology. .

This Week in Congress
  • House – The House approved the energy portion of a surface transportation package, the "Protecting Investment in Oil Shale the Next Generation of Environmental, Energy, and Resource Security (PIONEERS) Act" (H.R. 3408) by a 237-184 vote. The House also agreed to the conference report accompanying the "Temporary Payroll Tax Cut Continuation Act of 2011" (H.R. 3630) by a 293-132 vote.

 

  • Senate – The Senate continued consideration of the surface transportation bill, the "Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21) Act" (S. 1813). The Senate also approved the conference report accompanying the "Temporary Payroll Tax Cut Continuation Act of 2011" (H.R. 3630) by a 60-36 vote.
